DEPTH

Below is my outcome from University, a project exploring metaphors of tangibility and experience of life. 
Each piece represents a depth of exploration into the ocean, both literally and figuratively.

The steel cage connotes to fishing, piers, beaches and by association watersports, swimming, boating. This is the level I have the most connection to through my upbringing in a seaside town.

Next the yellow box represents submersibles, pushing to discover and experience more and being on the edge of human knowledge.

Lastly the anodised aluminium box is inspired by siphonophores, deep sea relatives of jellyfish that can reach up to 40meters long. The only word I can find to describe them is alien and that is what this represents, the idea of the unknown world and the value of experience and exploration.
